Punching

Punching is a technique that is applied in the artisan and industrial textile field, specifically in embroidery.
It is possible to define a process of transforming any design into actual embroidery stitches which are then transcribed into a file, sent to the embroidery machine by means of a USB key or via cable, which will instruct the same to carry out the creation of the embroidery.

Punching can be done automatically by the software itself or manually, creating polygons, fills and paths as in a graphics program. Using the most expensive software, automatic "punching" can give satisfactory results, but manual punching is always the most defined and professional.

The "Puncher" with a scanner detects the image, establishes the path, the various types of stitches, the colors, the dimensions of the embroidery and the various commands to set (thread trimmer, color changes, stitch length, density, speed, etc.) . Then outline the outlines of the various elements that make up the design through a sequence (called blocks) that takes into account the ways and times of execution of the embroidery machine, optimizing the path also according to the type of fabric on which it will be necessary to perform embroidery.

Since the final result will be conditioned by multiple factors (draft, fabric, thread, stabilizers, etc.) it will be the ability and experience of the "puncher" to determine the optimal result. Everything that the "puncher" will have inserted or not in his "embroidery program" will then be reproduced in series on multi-head or single-head embroidery machines with all its strengths and weaknesses. Advanced punching allows you to fine-tune fills, outlines and the direction of the embroidery.
